As you review the contents of this website, you will note the thousands of lives that are touched by The Salvation Army's many ministries. Wherever need exists in Jamestown and Chautauqua County, The Salvation Army's Red Shield is a solid, reputable symbol of hope to people struggling with adversity.

Meeting people at their point of need and communicating the love of God through practical expressions of compassion is the mission of The Salvation Army.

In fact, The Salvation Army has been at the forefront of positive social change since it began its work in Jamestown in 1886. That tradition continues today under the direction of Majors Richard and Jody Best. A professional staff of 40, over a hundred soldiers and countless volunteers provide an ever-expanding array of programs which include: Disaster Services, the Domestic Violence/Rape Crisis Program, Emergency Financial Assistance and the League of Mercy.

It is a big job, and the needs will only increase as our community continues to grow and change. With your continued support and encouragement, The Salvation Army  will always be able to carry out its commitment of meeting material and spiritual needs.
